Michael
B. Broadhurst, bass-baritone, sang with the
Virginia
Opera for eight seasons where
he performed various small roles in more than 250 shows. He performed
with the
TodiMusicFest
in opera productions of Nabucco, Lucia di Lammermoor and Manon
Lescaut in which he was the Ship’s Captain. In addition, he
sang with the
Virginia Symphony Chorus for
15 seasons. Michael appeared as Oberon in excerpts from Midsummer Night’s Dream staged as a collaborative effort of the Bay
Youth Orchestra and the Virginia Children’s Chorus. Michael is the principal
bass-baritone at First Presbyterian Church - Portsmouth and also solos
in various other churches in Tidewater. In his capacity as Town Crier,
Michael has rung and proclaimed messages for the City of Portsmouth, The
Virginia International Tattoo, NATO, the Olde Towne Scottish Walk and
various private functions.
Continuing his love of
music, Michael is the owner/operator of Mike's Mobile Mics, a
mobile recording studio that affords Michael the opportunity to

Michael
serves as a director on the Boards of the Rotary Club of Portsmouth
and the Rail Road Museum of Virginia, Inc. and serves as Treasurer for both
organizations. He is President of
Financial
Counselors of Virginia, Inc., a wealth management firm based in Portsmouth.
Michael and his wife Edna have a daughter and two grandchildren and live in
Portsmouth.
