Also, ETFs and principal protected products are based primarily on indexes. which are growing rapidly in both number and variety, making it challenging to keep up with them. The major index providers: Dow Jones, Standard & Poors, Russell/Mellon, FTSE, MSCI, Merrill Lynch and Wilshire, all have sites providing detailed information about their indexes. In addition, Dow Jones offers the Dow Jones Portfolio Indexes which include portfolios targeted to specific maturity dates and portfolios graded by risk. Barclays Global Investors Market Track provides a well organized and timely access to a wide array of fixed income and equity indices. Comprehensive monthly total return data for the major Standard & Poor's US, Global and investment style indices are available here in both Excel Spreadsheet and Adobe Acrobat formats and in several languages. IndexUniverse, publisher of Journal of Indexes, provides an extensive screen for indexes, index funds and ETFs. Specialized indexes are growing rapidly and increasingly becoming the basis for new ETFs. Among such indexes are the IPOX indexes for initial public offerings (IPOs), Mergent's Dividend Achievers.
